How to work out the quantity of steel in beam
In this construction video tutorial, the renowned engineer S.L. Khan briefly explains the process for finding out the quantity of steel in beams.
The calculation is made on the basis of the following dimensions :-
The length of the beam is taken as 10 feet
The depth of the beam is taken as 18 inches
The dead hooks in main bars are taken as 9d
The angle of bent up bars with horizontal lines is 45 degree
To determine the quantity of steel for main bars, initially you have to find the total cut length of bars with the following formula :-
= [10’ – 2(c.c.) + 2(hooks)] x Number of bars
To learn the complete process, go through the following video tutorial.
