What is reinforcement ratio. Reinforcement ratio can be defined as the ratio of area of steel to the area of concrete. It has no units because its only the ratio of areas. Reinforcement ratio shows how much steel are used in any structural members. Reinforcement ratio have different ranges for different structural members. Some of these ranges are as:
  • Reinforcement ratio for beam is 1-2% 
  • Reinforcement ratio for column is 1-8% 
  • Reinforcement ratio for footing is 0.8-1% 
  • Reinforcement ratio for slab is 1%
