Micro heat exchangers, Micro-scale heat exchangers, or microstructured heat exchangers are heat exchangers in which (at least one) fluid flows in lateral confinements with typical dimensions below 1 mm. The most typical such confinement are microchannels, which are channels with a hydraulic diameter below 1 mm. Microchannel heat exchangers can be made from metal, ceramic.
Microchannel heat exchangers can be used for many applications including:
1-high-performance aircraft gas turbine engines
2-heat pumps
3-air conditioning

Classification of micro heat exchangers

Just like "conventional" or "macro scale" heat exchangers, micro heat exchangers have one, two or even three fluidic flows. In the case of one fluidic flow, heat can be transferred to the fluid (each of the fluids can be a gas, a liquid, or a multiphase flow) from electrically powered heater cartridges, or removed from the fluid by electrically powered elements like Peltier chillers.

In the case of two fluidic flows, micro heat exchangers are usually classified by the orientation of the fluidic flows to another as "cross flow" or "counter flow" devices. If a chemical reaction is conducted inside a micro heat exchanger, the latter is also called a microreactor.

Micro Plate Heat Exchangers are available for single and dual circuits for chillers and heat pumps in capacities ranging from 90 to 400 kW. These units are compatible with R-134a, R-448A, R-449A, R-452A and R-290 refrigerants. The Z-pattern plate technology improves heat exchanger efficiency by mixing liquid and gas refrigeration in zigzag flow.
Units are suitable for use in hotels, office spaces, and data center applications and come in carbon footprint. How heat exchangers work - Micro Plate. In this video we'll be taking a look at how Micro Plate Heat Exchangers work as well as their applications within chillers, heat pumps and heat recovery systems for the condenser and evaporator. These type of heat exchanger come in both gasket plate heat exchanger as well as brazed plate heat exchanger.
