How To Calculate Water Cement Ratio In Concrete | Water Cement Ratio Chart

After watching this construction video tutorial, you will understand better how to work out proportion of water and cement in concrete.
Generally, the water cement ratio remains at under 0.4 to 06 according to IS Code 10262 (2009) toward nominal mix M7.5, M10, M15, M20 and M25.
To determine how much water is required in one bag cement, the following process has to be followed :
It is known that the weight of concrete in 1 meter cube = 1440 Kg/m3
1 bag cement = 50 Kg
Now, determine the quantity of cement in cubic meter in one bag cement as follow :-
1 bag of cement = 50/1440 = 0.03472 m3 (1440 = density of cement)
Suppose, 1 bag cement = 35 litre
Now, water cement ratio (w/c) is taken as 0.5
Therefore, water = cement x 0.5
W = 35 x 0.5 = 17.5 liter water/bag.
