Design of Lateral Ties for Column

This video shows the Design of Lateral Ties for Column. Lateral Ties are also known as the transverse reinforcement, In beams they are called as stirrups while in column they are called as Ties. 

They are provided in column to make confinement in columns. They are also provided to increase the lateral capacity of column so it can resist the lateral forces coming from earthquake or wind load well.
